Approaching of the New Year is not just the eve of new 12 months. It is much more complicated: it is the gate that leads into a new life full of those very wonders which we no longer believe in. But in the New Year’s Eve anything is possible, is not it? No wonder the folk wisdom says that as you meet the New Years as you spend it. New Year's meeting is a very old tradition. For the first time it was celebrated in Mesopotamia. However, these were Chinese who have influenced on the modern look of this holiday. They introduced, for example, the tradition to make fireworks for the New Year's Night. So popular in Russian mandarins came from China as well. In Chinese the phrase:" a couple of Mandarins” sounds like the word “gold”. That is why table with Mandarins on it is a rich table. And, of course, China has given us their calendar, which represents a year in the form of 12 animals. So, according to Chinese beliefs, the New Year 2011 is a Year of Rabbit.
