1) Pizzafest in Naples (September 6-11) - one of the brightest events in Italy. Naples celebrates its most famous dish with visiting chefs, pizza-making workshops and shows.
2) Festa della Rificolona - Festival of the Paper Lanterns (September 6-7) takes place in Florence to celebrate the birth of the Virgin Mary. It is a particularly atmospheric event. The local residents and visitors carry colorful paper lanterns of different shapes around the streets of Florence. The procession begins at 8 pm and goes from Piazza Santa Felicita.
