Have a blessed Orthodox Easter on Apr’28 2019 |
Orthodox Easter, also called Pascha and Resurrection Sunday, is the oldest and most important festival in the Eastern Christian tradition.
In most years its date differs from the date of Easter in Western Christianity (Catholic and Protestant Easter) and is usually one week, but occasionally four or five weeks, later. However, in some years Orthodox Easter coincides with Western Easter and both observances fall on the same date.
Orthodox Easter 2019 will be celebrated on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
In the Orthodox tradition, worshippers greet one another on Easter with these words: "Christ is risen!" ("Christos Anesti!"). The traditional response is, "He is risen indeed!" ("Alithos Anesti!").
